The walk through Bethlehem

One night. A living village.

You are not seated for a play. You move through the streets as the first Christmas night unfolds around you.

Streets of Bethlehem is a free outdoor living nativity in Salinas. Guests walk a path of interactive stations — from the busy marketplace to the quiet of the manger — guided by hundreds of volunteers in period costume.

The marketplace

Spices, pottery, woven cloth, and the ring of the blacksmith's hammer. A thriving street of trades and townspeople in period dress.

Live animals

The sounds and presence of animals bring the village to life — a reminder that this story was born among ordinary creatures and ordinary people.

Live animals are part of Streets each year, cared for by trained handlers. Their presence roots the nativity in the real, earthy night when Christ was born — not a distant pageant, but a living scene.
